The aim of the course is to introduce conflicts and conflict resolution in international relations. The first part of this course focuses on Peace and conflict research as a subdiscipline of international relations. The course will then focus on the term "conflict" (negative and neutral understanding of conflict), the course of a conflict (stages of conflict) and causes of conflict. The second part focuses on methods of conflict resolution, trying to assess their effectivity. The final part will focus on the role of international institutions in the process of conflict resolution and demonstrate the specific types of conflict cycle and resolution.
