The course aims to familiarize students with the history of the Berber ethnic groups in North Africa , especially in moder nand postmodern era. The aim is to present the history and ethnography of the Berber ethnic groups within the context of precolonial and colonial rule as well as nationalism after decolonization. Students will learn reasons of various developements of Berber ethnic groups in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Saharan region. The emphasis will be placed on the factor of national revival and unification efforts, cultural and linguistic representation of language constructivism, including an analysis of the most significant entities and personalities - Berber cultural movement, IRCAM, University of Tizi-Ouzou, Mouloud Mammeri etc. The results of recent field work will also be reflected. |
