The course builds on previous knowledge acquired in the subjects of History of Art in Pedagogical Reflections 1 and 2, mainly on the acquisition of art theory and approach to the analysis of artworks as well as on the knowledge of the development of art in previous historical periods. The aim of the course is to provide the student with an overview of the development of modern art from the art of Impressionism until the middle of the 20th century in the form of lectures and visual presentations, as well as through active participation of students. At the beginning of the semester the students choose a topic to elaborate on in the form of a paper, making use of professional literature and their own in-depth analyses. Students will get an overview of changes in the concepts and functions of art in society, will acquire the practical skills of analysis of works of art, will get acquainted with the principal characteristics and foremost representatives of the discussed avant-garde art movements. |
