The aim of the course is to provide the student with a basic insight into the problems of historiography, its subject, character, pitfalls, history, and the awareness and didactic potential of historiography. The course will seek to give the student a basic overview of the development of world and Czech historiography from antiquity through the Middle Ages, humanism to the modern development of historical science. Emphasis will be placed on national historiography and, in particular, on familiarizing with the main parts of Czech historiography in the context of European development. The partial aim is to introduce to students the possibility of linking the subject with the school practice and with the basic didactics of history.
