Research Seminar in Computing

The goal of this seminar is to develop basic skills needed for scientific work. The primary audience are master-level students working on research projects, in particular as part of their master thesis work but also otherwise, but it can be beneficial also for just-enrolled PhD candidates.

Course annotation KIV/OSN-E -IS/STAG

The course will improve master-level students' understanding of fundamental findings as well as of recent results of computing research and development in a given area (e.g. related to the master thesis topic) based on the study of published research results, and teach them the methods and tools of a systematic (scientific and engineering) approach to complex problem solving. The seminar will help students perform independent systematic analysis of the state of the art and important trends in a given area, providing skills relevant for their future professional or academic career.
