Welcome!
The 21st century is characterized by a daily flood of information, which is not at all easy to navigate, or even let alone derive knowledge from (e.g., repeatability, trends, deviations from the norm) necessary for decision-making. Visualization is a way to present this information or derived knowledge comprehensibly. For the human brain, it is much easier to understand an image than a long text or a set of numbers. After all, we all know the proverb that "a picture is worth a thousand words." However, the key question is which visualization method to choose.
This course will focus on the most commonly used visualization techniques and explain and demonstrate how to effectively communicate information through visualization to ensure clarity and prevent misinterpretation. We will also explore current trends in information visualization. In addition to the theoretical foundation, students can design their own visual representation of extensive data using Microsoft Power BI or Tableau Public.
