This course will introduce approaches, possibilities and limitations of social work in situations where individuals encounter processes and mechanisms of justice. It will focus on the following target groups: 1) sex workers; 2) persons abused for financial gain; 3) trafficked persons; 4) victims of domestic violence; 5) victims of crime; 6) violent persons. In the context of each defined situation, terminology and existing classifications will be explained first. In addition, history of social work with individuals in these situations will be introduced. However, emphasis will be put on current approaches and possibilities of social work with individuals in these situations and the impact of the standard of social services. Ethical dilemmas and problems will be part of discussions in the course. Part of this course will also focus on probation and mediation.
