| The course designed for single-subject students builds on the basic knowledge of art history acquiered at secondary school. The course aims to introduce students to the plurality of interpretative approaches applied in the interpretation of works of art. Based on previous personal interpretive experience and through gradual familiarization with selected interpretative theories, the objective of this course is to acquaint students with changing approaches to the content, meaning, role and function of the artwork in society and to equip them with the ability to actively use different interpretative frameworks. The course focuses on several selected chapters from the earlier art periods (from prehistory to the end of the 19th century) that are presented in the light of modern and contemporary interpretative approaches. |
