The objective of the course is to acquaint students with development tendencies of British and American literature from the beginning of the 20th century to the present, with leading literary trends in the given period and their major representatives. Attention in the lectures will be paid e.g. to the origin of the realist novel and short story, modernism and the diversity of British and American literature from the 1960s to the present. The seminars will be aimed at the analysis of authentic texts in the social and cultural context. The course is taught in English and systematically develops critical thinking and interpretation skills of the students. |
