Image Analysis and Scene Understanding
The aim of this course is to broaden students’ knowledge of image processing and computer vision and apply it to understanding the semantics of images from various sources and domains, including conventional images, computed tomography scans, and infrared images. Students will become familiar with both fundamental and advanced methods for image segmentation and object detection. The methods range from feature-based approaches using colour, shape, and texture features, through simple convolutional neural networks, to modern deep-learning techniques and large vision-language models.
