Course objectives:
|
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to offer the students basic knowledge of methods and techniques of pedagogical diagnostics both theoretical and practical, using the understanding of age and individual peculiarities of the pupil and applying methods to pedagogical practice. The subject contributes to the deepening of the professional competencies of the future teachers of primary and secondary schools in the fields pedagogical diagnostics and their practical use, including the ethical dimension and the development of the ability of future primary and primary school teachers to participate in the optimal development of their pupil.

Requirements on student
|
Active participation in seminars and processing of assigned tasks in the school environment. Processing of independent work and protocol based on the practical use of diagnostic techniques for selected areas of diagnostics at a particular elementary school.

Content
|
Topics of lectures:
Diagnostics of pupils in work of a teacher, diagnostic process, methodology and interpretation of the pedagogical diagnostics results.
Spheres of pedagogical diagnostics. Connection of pedagogical diagnostics and special pedagogy.
Teacher in pedagogic situation.
Social perception, observation as a basic diagnostic method.
School maturity and school success. Diagnostics of learning styles. Talented pupils.
Diagnostics of school performance. Didactic tests.
Diagnostics of interests, attitudes and value orientation of a pupil.
Diagnostics of social relationships, school and family environment. Climate of the school class.
Autodiagnostics of a pupil and autodiagnostics of a teacher as a part of diagnostic process.
Content of seminars will go out from the topics of individual lectures.

To describe particular diagnostic methods and techniques, their classification and sorting. |
To describe positive and negative aspects of particular diagnostic methods, the procedure of their implementation and the specifics of their use. |
Skills - skills resulting from the course: |
To build a portfolio of diagnostic methods and tools. |
To use the knowledge of developmental psychology and special education as a standard in evaluation of diagnostic methods (observation, interviewing, testing, etc.) and support tools. |
To use the diagnostic methods and techniques in practice, to evaluate them and present the interpretation of acquired data in seminar; to suggest effective support tools for further development of the pupil. |
To properly combine, complement and compare the methods, so that a validation of diagnostic results could be ensured. |
