Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the concept of social exclusion in its particular dimensions such as housing, employment, education and/or social and political participation. Besides the umbrella concept of the social exclusion the participants of the course will get familiar with the concepts and theories of poverty, marginalization, underclass, culture of poverty, spatial segregation etc. Particular attention is given to examples of ethnographies of marginalized groups in contemporary complex societies.
