Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to provide students with competencies for teaching Man and his World in terms of subjects about nature and society at a primary school (focused on their national historical and geographical component). Students will acquire necessary knowledge and skills of Man and his World (they integrate educational areas concerning a man, family, society, homeland, nature, culture, technology, health and other topics, in context of the history and present) and on the basis of this knowledge they complete their attitudes to the reality of the contemporary Czech Republic and the world. They will be acquainted with theoretical and partly practical (through concrete examples) methodology of practical activities in the field, map work and work with various machines so that they are able to apply it to teaching curriculum about nature and society, in the context with previous competencies acquired in the general pedagogical and psychological disciplines.

Requirements on student
|
Create and present a paper on a given topic; submission of written elaboration of requested assignments. Fulfilment requirements of written test. To accomplish test succesfully (70% - good, 80% - very good, 90% - excellently). Students have a possibility of two retests.

The course includes these items:
1. Introduction to the subject of Man and his World. Familiarization with scientific, methodological and regional literature. Scientific and methodological journals.
2. Maps and Plans.
3. Description of a local region.
4. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / Location, Czech statehood, the division of the state /.
5. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / terrain, climate /.
6. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / waters, mineral resources /.
7. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / population and settlement /.
8. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / economy - agriculture, forestry and water service /.
9. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / industry /.
10. Geographical and historical characteristics of the CR / transport and services /
11. CR within Europe, neighboring countries, fundamental information about the world.
12. Neighboring countries - more detailed geographical and historical characteristics.
13. Environmental protection, child?s orientation in time, important historical events, personalities and sights in relation to teaching Man and his World in primary schools, child?s orientation in value system and political organization of society.

is able to work with cartographic material and digital maps and use them in teaching at a primary school; |
is able to orientate themselves in the field according to plans, maps, a compass, GPS, landmarks and further knowledge |
is able to create simple plans, route sketches, panoramic sketches, etc., is able to cope with didactic transformation and methodical figuration of curriculum; |
is able to identify the problems of regions of different hierarchical levels and utilize them educationally in didactic transformation of curriculum (e.g., multicultural education, education for sustainable development and etc..) |
is able to create PowerPoint presentation of a selected region and use it to present the curriculum in the school or present the region for public; |
cope with evaluation in terms of the subject and as well with self-reflection and self-evaluation. |
