Course objectives:
|
The objective of the course it to acquaint the students with the testimonies of archaeological records of the Early and Late Iron Age (the Hallstatt, i.e. La Tene and Roman era and the usage of such records for understanding the life of the then society and its diverse aspects - dwellings, burials, economy, rituals/religion) and the way they manifest via archaeological records (artefacts and eco-artefacts).

|
1) Archaeology and ethnicity of inhabitants in Central Europe in the Late Iron Age - exemplified by the Celts. 2) Archaeology and ethnicity of inhabitants in Central Europe in the Late Iron Age - exemplified by the Germanic people. 3) The relation between written and archaeological records when analysing the La Téne and Roman eras. 4) Urban processes in the Iron Age. 5) Paradigms in the research regarding the late Paleolithic era. 6) The clash of civilisations. 7) Economic relations in the late Paleolithic era. 8) Transportation in the late Paleolithic era and the means of researching it. 9) Ceramics as an archaeological record for the purposes of understanding the late Paleolithic era - 1. 10) Ceramics as an archaeological record for the purposes of understanding the late Paleolithic era - 2. 11) the Hallstatt so-called manors and graves and their interpretations. 12) the Hallstatt and the early medieval hillforts and their positions in the societal systems of both eras.
