Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to present an interpretation of the main stages of European intellectual development. All of the topics concerned will be analyzed within contemporary cultural and social contexts. Emphasis will be placed on analysis of classical ideas and concepts: philosophical, religious, artistic, and scientific. The course will cultivate methodological premises and a synthetic view of European culture as a compact and interconnected system. The first part of the course will address ancient, medieval and renaissance spiritual culture introduced through classical works of poetry and prose, artists, philosophers, scientists, theologians.

Content
|
The course cultivates methodological perspectives and synthetic view of European culture as an integrated and interconnected system.
First part is devoted to Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance spiritual culture, which will be presented through classical works of poets and prose writers, artists, philosophers, scholars and theologists.
