Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the phenomenon of modern non-democratic political systems. Students will be introduced to modern theories of totalitarian and authoritarian regimes, their primordial forms, ideological background etc. The course will also deal with theoretical discussions on totalitarian and authoritarian regimes as well as the most recent theories of the so-called hybrid regimes. Last but not least, attention will be paid to examples of the types of non-democratic regimes.

Requirements on student
|
Students regularly read assigned texts in Czech and foreign languages and prepare assignments on a regular basis. The assignments are in the form of oral presentations or texts; this will be arranged by mutual agreement between lecturer and students. Assignments will be evaluated by lecturer.
Presentation generally lasts about 10-20 minutes, standard length of papers is 10-20 standard pages (1800 characters with spaces per page).
