Course objectives:
|
Learning outcomes of the course unit is to acquaint students with the basics of developmental kinesiology and possibilities of its application in eergotherapy, to explain the nature of ergotherapy, approaches and methods used in inborn and acquired defects, to emphasize the importance of cooperation with family and other members of multidisciplinary team, to define the essence of handling, to define the essence of upright, postural and defensive functions.

Lecture: Written test with 75% success rate, 80% attendance at lectures.
Practical: 100% attendance at practicals, essay elaboration.

Content
|
Lectures
1. Developmental kinesiology, examination of the child in the first year of life.
2. Postural activity in first and second trimenon.
3. Postural activity in the third trimenon and in the fourth trimenon.
4. Walking, grip and game development.
5. Ergotherapy in cerebral palsy in children, spastic and non-spastic forms, examination.
6. Comprehensive rehabilitation for cerebral palsy in children - therapeutic, pedagogical, social, occupational.
7. Ergotherapy for Down Syndrome Diagnosis.
8. Ergotherapy for mental retardation.
9. Development of self-sufficiency, training of self-sufficiency in children with cerebral palsy.
10. The issue of verticalization in children with cerebral palsy.
11. Ergotherapy in scoliosis and faulty posture, school of back.
Practicals
1. Examination of gross and fine motorics, cognitive and postural functions.
2. Positioning.
3. Handling, inhibition, facilitation.
4. Basics of handling of spastic and hypotonic children, positioning.
5. Oblique sitting, climbing, rating, motivation by game to reach positions, compensation.
6. Stand and walk, evaluation, game motivation to achieve positions, compensation.
7. Practical use of games, toys and therapeutic activities for individual ages.
8. Examination of the child through observation under natural conditions, determination of the goal of therapy, problem areas, short-term and long-term planning with respect to diagnosis.
9. Compensatory aids for children with health disabilities, adaptation of the home environment.
10. Refill of the therapeutic unit, use of the game, parental education.
11. Modern trends in TeraSuit therapy, Constraint induced Movement Therapy in children with cerebral palsy.
