Course objectives:
|
Lexicology as a part of linguistics. Semantics. Word, formal lexical unit and lexeme. Monosemy, polysemy. Language fields. Homonymy, synonymy, antonymy, paronymy. Composition and enhancing of the Russian lexicon. Dictionaries, word migration, loanwords. Term forming. Prefixation, affixation. Composition, abbreviations, signs. Complex onomatological units. Calcs. Extending and narrowing of meaning. Professional terminology. Class attendance is recommended in accordance with FF regulations.

Requirements on student
|
There is a combined exam in the end of the course. The requirements are:
1. In the final week (Week 13), students are required to take written test. The limit for passing is 70%.
2. Oral exam in the exam period (students are supposed to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge of subject matter and apply the knowledge when solving a particular problem).

Week 1
Introduction to the course, required literature, organization of the course and exam requirements. Introduction to lexicology. Lexicology as a part of linguistics. Subject of lexicology.
Week 2
Formal lexical unit; word, lexeme, morpheme, semantics, monosemy, polysemy.
Week 3
Types of lexical meanings. Direct and indirect meaning of words. Metonymy, metaphor.
Week 4
Meaning relationships between words. Language field.
Week 5
Synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, homophones, homographs, paronymy.
Week 6
Lexis of contemporary Russian language from historical development viewpoint. Stratification of contemporary Russian lexis.
Week 7
Lexicography. Dictionaries. Types of dictionaries and their structure.
Week 8
Ways of enriching Russian lexis. Migration of words, borrowings from foreign languages, calques, internationalism.
Week 9
Word formation. Basic types of word formation in Russian language. Affixation.
Week 10
Compounding. Abbreviating. Conversion.
Week 11
Complex onomatological unit. Verb-nominal and verb-adverbial units. Types of compounds and collocations.
Week 12
Specialised terminology. Comparison of Russian and Czech specialised lexis.
Week 13
Active processes in Russian language of last decades.

to understand the speech of the lexicology or lexicography or word formation in Russian at level B1 / B2 |
to understand the text of lexicology, lexicography, word-formation in Russian and summarize its main idea |
to orientate themselves in basic Czech-Russian lexicography manuals (especially translation dictionaries) and use them in the study |
to understand the structure of the dictionary password, the passwords in the encyclopedia |
to perceive the reflection of mutual contacts between Czech and Russian in the vocabulary available to him |
