Course objectives:
|
Thanks to this course students will acquire advanced communication skills in German and will master basics of rhetoric.
Good (intermediate) knowledge of German language expected. Special attention is paid to appropriate and articulate expression in every-day communication and occasional situations. Independent part of this course build practical exercises of Received Pronunciation focused on elimination of frequent mistakes made by Czech people speaking German. The course will be taught in German, level B1-B2.

Content
|
Specific course content will be determined in the beginning of the semester; it depends on the participants´ professional orientation.
Main rhetorical methods: discussion, explanation, persuasion, description, report, professional exposition, short lecture, etc.
Practical exercises of Received Pronunciation focused on elimination of frequent mistakes made by Czech people speaking German.
Emphasis is placed on students' individual work.

to recognize the system of German sounds
|
to orientate themselves in the vocal system of the German language |
to orientate themselves in the consonant system of the German language |
to describe the function of suprasegmental spoken speech |
to identify the possible interference of the own languange in speech pronunciation in German |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to communicate in German at B1/B2 level |
to apply knowledge about the vocal system of the German language in their own manifestations

to apply knowledge about the consonant system of German language in its own manifestations
|
on the basis of knowledge of the German Voice system, correct his pronunciation in German language
|
recognize and eleminate the interference of their mother tongue in their pronunciation in their own speech in German
|
to use correctly and functionally the suprasegmental phenomena in their own speech in German
|
to distinguish the manifestations of regional variants of the German language in spoken speeches |

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
to characterize the basic rhetorical figures |
theoretically describe the signs of official spoken speech within a professional functional style |
to compare the spoken and written expression within the professional functional style and other functional styles |
based on phonics and phonology, to describe the most common pronunciation errors |
Skills - skills resulting from the course: |
to create a self-spoken speech in German in the context of phonics, phonology, stylistics and rhetoric |
to present their ideas in accordance with the principles of public speaking in professional working style |
to apply the knowledge of rhetorical figures in their own spoken language, functionally and adequately use them |
to eliminate the most common pronunciation errors in their own spoken speeches on the Czech-German counter-bases |
to identify the manifestations of regional German varieties in specific speeches and to assess their adequacy in relation to the communication situation |
