1. Parameters of soils. Granularity, mass weight, specific weight, consistence, humidity, plasticity, shear resistance, compressibility. Settlement, consolidation of the subsoil. Parameters of foundation soils and minerals as defined by the standards.
2. Philosophy of the design of foundation structures. Loads and combination of loads soliciting foundation structures. Overview of norms regarding the design of structures.
3. Spread foundations, foundation depth, solicitations of the foundation, strain under a solitary force, vertical strain under the edge of the foundation, stability of the spread foundation.
4. Bearing capacity of the subsoil, settlement of buildings, time evolution of settlement, design of spread foundations in the various geo-technical categories. Effects of aggressive environment in the subsoil.
5. Deep foundations ? piles, micropiles. Categories of piles considering the realization technology. Transmission function. Calculated bearing capacity of a single pile, calculation of a group of piles, settlement of pile foundations. Micropiles.
6. Horizontally loaded piles, piles in tension, piles in aggressive environment. Installing piles under the water level.
7. Sloped excavations, sheeted excavations. Soil pressure acting on structures, active soil pressure, passive soil pressure, effects of ground water on loads. Stability of slopes, landslides.
8. Diaphragm walls, pile walls, strutting systems, anchoring systems, sealing excavations, drainage of excavations.
9. Retaining walls. Types of retaining walls, design of retaining walls, gabions, reinforcing slopes with geo-textiles, progressive retaining walls.
10. Foundations in atypical conditions. Foundations on fills, solidifying the soil, stability and appropriate procedures for solidifying. Foundations in areas with flooding risk, foundations in areas damaged by mining activities.
11. Reconstruction and reparation of foundations. Classification of defects, measures against negative effects of water.
12. Improving the quality of the subsoil, solidifying, methods for solidifying, added loads, rolling, dynamic consolidation, deep consolidation, controlling the consolidation. Stabilization of soil, injecting the subsoil.
13. Practical examples of design of foundation structures.
