Course objectives:
|
To introduce the students into approaches and methods of symbolic anthropology which principle is based on the view that each particular culture could be understood through key symbols and rituals as well as that different cultures assign different meanings to particular symbols. To guide students through structural methodology. Students will acquire knowledge about basic keywords in structural linguistics of F. de Saussure, semiotics of R. Barthes and structural anthropology of C. Lévi-Strausse.

Requirements on student
|
Students are required to be able to read academic text both in Czech and English language on good degree of understanding and interpretation. Credit will be obtained on the basis of written test and exam will be in form of oral examination. Both forms of examination are based on content of lectures and required reading (literature which is mentioned in syllabus)

určit a vysvětlit, jakou roli mají symboly (zvířata, jídlo, části lidského těla, prostorové kategorie), mytologie, náboženství v interakci a v organizaci každodenního života jednotlivců |
charakterizovat a porovnat rozdíly ve společných symbolech různých kultur (příroda/kultura, ženy/muži, život/smrt, čest/hanba, pravá/levá strana), symbolizovány |
charakterizovat mocenské aspekty využívání symbolů a určit jejich roli s sociálních procesech |
